Cue the graduation music
This is the last episode of Be School. I’m not the same person I was when I recorded that first episode at the end of 2018. You’ve evolved a lot too. I used to start episodes by saying that, “I share my journey of learning, unlearning, and growth in the hopes that you can do the same.”
So let’s do that one last time. Let’s look back at what this Be School podcast taught me.
What I Learned
The word that came to mind was persistence. My first instinct was to say consistency, but I think I really only mastered one type of consistency. (If you’re wondering what I mean, listen to this episode.)
What I Unlearned
This reflection surprised me. Be School forced me to unlearn the belief that I had to do it alone. I made it through two weeks of recording, editing, and producing all of the marketing materials for the podcast before I hired an editor. It was my first contract hire.
Eventually, I hired a podcast manager to cover the rest of the logistics. I learned what it felt like to be fully supported in a project, and, damn, did it feel good
How I Grew
This podcast helped me find my voice—pun fully intended. I stopped trying to be like other podcasters and leaned into what made me, me. My grounding voice, my penchant for short, punchy content. My willingness to lean into nuance.
I got comfortable sharing my perspective and saw how it connected you to your own journey.
So, What’s Next?
I’ll still be podcasting! Inner Workout is launching a new podcast, Inner Warmup. It’s where your inner work begins. Instead of me being the expert, I’ll interview you.
Each episode is an opportunity for you to deepen your own self expertise. I hope you’ll give it a listen.
Before I sign off, I want to say thank you. Thank you for listening, for sharing, for DMing, for encouraging. You’ve made Be School a project that I’ll forever cherish.
