Podcasts. Books. Documentaries. Webinars. You're consuming a lot of content, and you probably don't need another "how to" guide. In fact, you probably need to put all of that content into action. In this episode of the Be School podcast, I chat about implementing and integrating your learnings. Listen in, or read below.
Looking for the link event I mentioned on the show? It's right here: The Big Reset
Every day, you have access to content from a variety of sources. You learn new ways to improve your life, to your business, and to your personal relationships. Access to knowledge isn't the issue for most of us; it's action.
So I don’t want to share a fresh tool, resource, or procedure for you to learn. I simply want to invite you to take a pause, to integrate what you have consumed thus far, and to implement whatever would be most impactful for your life right now.
What do you mean by integration?
If I asked you to tell me the definition of integration, what would you say? There's school integration, integrated marketing communication, integrated wellness... integrated everything. But the definition of the term itself can be kind of murky.
To put it simply, integration basically means to become part of a whole. In this case, you can think of it about deciding what to keep and what to let go of.
You can often sense when something doesn’t resonate with you or if it is aligned with your values. Those are the ends of the spectrum. There are things you'll refuse immediately and there are things that speak your soul. The vast majority of the content you consume is not particularly memorable until you intentionally access it again.
To integrate, you need to decide if a resource is something you want to hold on to and explore or if it is something to let go of. Start with a simple audit of your sources of information:
- Events
- Masterclasses
- Email information
- Newsletters
- Podcasts
- Blogs
- Social Media
Now you've got an idea of what you are working with. I invite you to take some time to analyze that and ask yourself:
- What is going to become part of how you move through the world?
- How will your actions change?
- What is not for you, at least at this moment?
After your process of integration, it's time to take action!
Implementing what you need
There is always some overlap between integration and implementation. While integration is more about concept and approaches, implementation is more about tactics and structure.
How can you practically apply what you've learned? Maybe you create a new process. Maybe you reminagine your strategy based on this additional context.
It's easy to get overwhelmed, so try implementing one thing at a time to start.
Don’t think of integrating and implementing as a new item in your checklist. Just take a pause and think about how you can use all the resources you already have access to in order to make a change in your life.
